IBC ACCESS

Security Procedures for technical equipment at the arrival at COP15

The level of security will be very high in connection with the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen. It means that all accredited broadcasters and news agencies must abide to a set of safety procedures in order to access the IBC with SNG Trucks/production vans and/or loose technical equipment (incl. handheld).

With the following briefing we hope to reduce the inconvenience that seems unavoidable in connection with radio- and television coverage of the conference.

Accessing IBC

For Broadcasters who wishes to set up their SNG truck or bring technical equipment into the Bella Center before the conference starts it will only be possible on December 3 between 08.00-22.00 local time (07.00-21.00 UTC). In this period it will be possible to enter through the south gate (C.F.Møllers Allé) and access SNG/OB compound and cubicles. To enter on December 3 one must be accredited and have a valid badge.

On Friday 4 December the Bella Center will be sealed off by the Danish police. Henceforth access to the venue will be according to UN and police guidelines. For larger production trucks to be parked before 4 of December there must be a person of resource present at the vehicle to aid the police at the security inspection. The inspection is planned to be carried out between 4 December and 5 December.

Bella Center will hereafter not be open for public access until December 6th at 08.00 local time (07.00 UTC) according to the following procedure:

Access for persons and minor technical equipment

All persons and hand luggage must pass through a scanner similar to that in all contemporary airports. Minor technical equipment (e.g. cameras, lamps, racks etc.) can be scanned at the same entrance. The equipment must able to pass through a 1 X 1 meter opening in the scanner. A 1½ meter long rack can pass through the scanner as long as it fits the 1 X 1 meter opening.

Access to the Bella Center for persons and minor technical equipment is through the Main Entrance ( Blue arrows on the map below).

Access for production trucks (SNG and OB)

All vehicles and large scale equipment will undergo a more extensive inspection. The procudure will be as follows:

Production trucks with access-permit to the Bella Center must go to the following address: Vasbygade 33, 2450 Copenhagen SV (see map). On this location the vehicle will be swept by the police and once a number of vehicles are through the sweeping they will be escorted by the police to the Bella Center, where they will be granted immidiate access to the compound through two gates. The distance between the Bella Center and Vasbygade 33 is approximately 5 kilometres (green route on map), but the police might use alternative routes for each escort.

The waitingtime depends on the number of vehicles at any given time and the prioritizing of the vehicles waiting. It is not possible to indicate the duration of the security inspection but it is likely to last for several hours for each vehicle.
Between 01.00 - 06.00 local time (24.00-05.00 UTC) Vasbygade will be used for food-supply transports, if possible please have your vehicle swept outside that timeframe.

In the Bella Center there will be two entrances for SNG- and OB Trucks (Red and green arrows on the map).
